The Ratel-X Industries Spare Wheel Mounted Cargo Platform is a practical and versatile external storage solution designed for 4x4s, expedition vehicles and utility builds with rear-mounted spare wheels.
 
Precision manufactured from lightweight 3mm aluminium and finished in a durable black textured powder coat, the platform provides additional external carrying capacity without the need for permanent vehicle modifications.
 
Designed to fit spare wheels from 29" to 35" diameter and tyres 215mm wide and above, the adjustable wheel mounting system allows the platform to be fitted to a wide range of vehicles and wheel carriers.
 
The platform can be assembled in two different configurations depending on vehicle setup and clearance requirements:
Centralised over the wheel
Offset away from the rear door
 
The offset configuration can help improve rear door clearance on certain vehicles and wheel carrier setups. When assembled in the offset position, loads should be positioned as close to the center of the wheel as possible.
 
A set of heavy-duty ratchet straps is included for mounting through the wheel, allowing the platform to be fitted or removed in minutes with no drilling or permanent vehicle modifications required. Optional wider wheel circumference straps are also available separately.
 
The laser-cut dog-bone mounting points accept standard airline lashing rings (sold separately), providing flexible load securing options for camping equipment, recovery gear, storage boxes, firewood and other bulky items better kept outside the vehicle.
 
The platform also provides an ideal mounting location for portable diesel heaters, allowing warm air ducting to be routed directly into rooftop tents or awnings while keeping the heater safely outside the vehicle.
 
Unlike permanently mounted racks, the platform can easily be removed when not in use to help keep it clean, secure and protected from unnecessary exposure.

Important Clearance Information
 
When the rear door is opened, the spare wheel rotates inwards towards the rear of the vehicle. Due to this movement, customers must carefully check the tray dimensions and overhang against their individual vehicle setup before ordering to ensure the platform will not contact the rear bodywork, rear window or accessories when the door is opened.
 
Wheel offset, tyre size, aftermarket wheel carriers and carrier spacing can all affect clearance. The supplied dimensional drawings should always be checked prior to purchase and installation.

Recommended maximum load: 20 kg evenly distributed
Customers must ensure their spare wheel carrier, tailgate and wheel mounting system are suitable for additional loads
Customers should check tray overhang dimensions against the vehicle before installation
